Pentre Awel in Llanelli is one of Wales’ most ambitious health and wellbeing developments. The new centre brings together leisure, community and health services in one modern facility. To support communication across the building, Carmarthenshire County Council required Digital Signage Solutions and a dedicated Microsoft Teams Rooms environment.
Comcen AV was selected to source, install and commission the technology across multiple spaces within the facility. The result is a connected environment where visitors receive clear information and staff collaborate effectively.
The Solution
Comcen AV worked closely with Carmarthenshire County Council during the construction and fit-out of the new centre. First, our engineers carried out a detailed site survey. This confirmed mounting positions, cable routes and power requirements across the building. Next, the team relocated existing digital displays from Llanelli Leisure Centre. These screens were then integrated with new displays installed across the facility.
Digital signage screens were installed in key locations including:
- Gym areas
- Café and retail spaces
- Pool viewing areas
- Management offices
The screens are managed through the Signagelive digital signage platform, allowing staff to update information centrally across the building. This ensures visitors always receive clear, accurate and timely information.
Hybrid Collaboration Spaces
In addition to digital signage, Comcen AV delivered a dedicated Yealink Microsoft Teams Rooms environment. The meeting space features a large 98-inch display, integrated video conferencing technology and professional audio.
This enables staff, clinicians and partners to join meetings quickly and collaborate from different locations.
The Hybrid Meeting Rooms environment ensures meetings start on time and participants enjoy a clear and consistent experience. Importantly, the space can also be made available for community meetings and external bookings, supporting local engagement while creating an additional revenue opportunity for the facility.
Sustainable Technology Approach
Sustainability was an important part of the project. Rather than replacing all equipment, Comcen AV relocated and recommissioned existing displays from the previous leisure centre. These screens were integrated with new installations and connected through the Signagelive network. This approach reduced cost while supporting the council’s sustainability objectives.
The Results
The completed installation now supports communication across the entire building. Visitors receive clear updates about facilities, activities and events. Staff can collaborate easily with remote colleagues and partners. Digital signage enables instant updates across multiple locations while the Microsoft Teams Rooms environment supports professional hybrid meetings.
