Switch On. Speak Up. Celebrate Together: The TrilbyTV Approach to School Culture.

TrilbyTV was born from a simple idea: schools already have screens, why not use them to celebrate success, build pride and connect communities?

Designed exclusively for education, TrilbyTV makes digital signage easy, empowering staff and students to share achievements and stories instantly. Whether it’s celebrating a winning goal, promoting charity events, or sharing learning moments, TrilbyTV helps schools turn every screen into a showcase of their culture. From student-led campaigns to staff updates, the platform creates a communication rhythm that’s personal, inclusive, and inspiring, helping schools switch on both their screens and their community spirit.

Quickfire Round

  1. Best signage content you’ve ever seen on TrilbyTV?
There’s so many fantastic designers out there using powerful tools like Canva and Adobe. Caludon Castle, Cedar Lodge, each time I look in I know there’s going to be something that makes me go WOW. But the best, personally, Whitchurch High School’s library updates. I love the engaging animations and that it makes, what is a very quiet space, feel alive. It’s a wonderful, monthly collaboration between the librarian and IT Tech.
  2. Favourite feature that schools love but don’t expect?
Website integration. It’s usually the last thing discussed whilst the focus is on physical displays around the site.
  3. One word to describe TrilbyTV’s impact in schools?
    Instant
  4. Proudest moment working with a school?
Developing content ideas with United Learning’s Salford cluster and hearing of the positive impact it’s had on the students and their engagement with extra curricular activities.
  5. Your advice in 10 words or fewer to any headteacher thinking about digital signage?
Make it personal. Make people smile. Positively influence everyone!

About Trilby TV

  1.  Can you tell us what inspired TrilbyTV to focus on Digital Signage for education?
TrilbyTV grew out of a passion for giving students and staff a voice. We realised schools had screens everywhere, but they weren’t being used to celebrate achievements, share learning, or build community. Often they were switched off or running some complex software no-one could work out how to use. Having worked in education for years, we wanted to create a platform that made it easy for schools to showcase their own content and tell their own stories. Switching signage back on!
  2. What makes TrilbyTV different from other digital signage platforms—especially for schools and colleges?
Most signage platforms are designed for the corporate world and then forced to work in schools. TrilbyTV is built for education from the ground up. That means simple setup, unlimited users, and tools that empower staff and students to contribute. From celebrating work on the big screen to instantly sharing announcements, our platform puts the school’s community and storytelling at the centre. Our UK-focused Content Catalogue gives inspiration and ideas, and our Smart Content takes school data and makes it visually engaging – saving schools time.
  3. If you had to sum up your mission in one sentence, what would it be?
Digital signage made easy! We help schools use their screens to celebrate, engage and inspire – turning every display into a showcase of learning and community.

    Designed for Education

  4. What design choices or features make TrilbyTV purpose-built for an educational environment?
Everyone knows every minute of a teachers’ day is valuable and we wanted to make sure we created a solution that was simple to use. That’s core to how we build and design. That means making it easy to get content into your account and onto your screens in minutes. This all affects the language we use, the actions users take and the options we make available. Too many choices and clicks and people will quickly give up. So we make sure the core features are easy to find and easy to use.
  5. How does your signage solution support busy school staff without adding to their workload?
When you first get your TrilbyTV account, we run you through an onboarding so that by the end you’ve got a screen connected and content showing. You can be up and running in 5 minutes. And once thats done, you simply add your new content and it will appear on your screen within minutes. We try to set sensible default choices to make it super easy to get going. We also provide customers with simple but powerful tools to add content, such as our Title Slides, which offer simple tools to create some rich media, without forcing you to go off to another platform to build a presentation. We also offer a great range of pre-made content in our Content Catalogue to help schools get some great educational content on screens in no time, with some great content from our partners such as WWF, Me Bee, Vocabulary Ninja and Mammal Society.
  6. Can you share an example of how TrilbyTV helps improve communication between staff, students, and parents?
Our easy screen configuration makes it easy to organise screens and content for specific uses, so staff can get training information and school updates, students can see educational content and share work made in school, and parents can see the successes in school.

    Pupil Voice & Engagement

  7. How do you see students engaging with digital signage in schools?
Students today love high-quality, digital content and so we often hear that they enjoy looking at the screens around their school. There are some clear practical benefits – showing students where they need to be, sharing important information, telling them what’s for lunch – to help keep them organised. However, beyond that, students engage really well with content that makes them feel like a part of the school community. That could be celebrations of success, memories of events or trips, or ways to get involved with student activities. There’s so many different ways to engage and inspire students, no matter what their interests are.
  8. Do pupils ever create their own content? How does that impact their learning or confidence?
Yes – and we love to see that! Several of our schools have a digital signage club or similar where students can make decisions about what they want to see around the school and get involved in creating content. It’s a great way to promote student voice to boost confidence and it helps to develop their digital skills which are valuable in school and beyond.
  9. Have you seen examples of student-led digital storytelling or campaigns on TrilbyTV?
One of my favourite examples is a school uniform recycling programme organised by students. They used their digital signage to promote uniform donation, highlighting the importance from an ecological perspective. It’s an amazing platform for students to be able to really promote their own initiatives and feel pride in their work.

    Building Community & Culture

  10. How does digital signage help foster a sense of belonging and pride in school communities?
When students see themselves celebrated and recognised publicly amongst their peers, it creates an emotional connection that they’re valued, builds self esteem, confidence and encourages them to continue with positive behaviours. Showcasing occasions such as sports games, productions, project work and other collaborative events helps to foster a sense of pride that they are part of something bigger than themselves meaning they’re likely to keep participating and being proud of the things they achieve. Great examples that we see of this is promoting charity events and then feeding back the amount raised and thanking the community for their involvement and sharing the impact it has had.
  11. Can signage be used to celebrate achievements and reinforce school values?
Yes! Absolutely! We have some great ready-to go Smart Content that help with exactly that. Our Awards and Celebrations content add dynamic engaging content to your displays while highlighting the achievements of your community. Whether it’s the winning goal of a football match, money raised for a charity event, excellent exam results or fantastic behaviour. Displaying these on your signage shows that your community’s achievements are recognised and celebrated. When it comes to re-inforcing school values, your signage is a great place to remind your community of your values and ethos. A positive reminder instills in people that they’re part of a community and encourages them to uphold these each day.

    Future of Communication in Education

  12. In your view, why is digital signage now essential in schools—not just a ‘nice-to-have’?
Delivering the right message to the right people at the right time is hugely important. Whether it’s setting the tone for new school visitors, delivering the latest curriculum changes to staff or letting young people know how well they are progressing. Digital Signage is the perfect mechanism to grow whole school communication
  13. How do you see the role of visual communication evolving in education over the next five years?
The issue of over communication via mechanisms such as email and chat channels is only going to increase. Digital Signage provides a light weight less intrusive communication channel. It’s a visually impactful way to subliminally deliver messaging to numerous audiences. With this in mind I can see schools installing more screens in areas where audience footfall is at its highest
  14. What advice would you give to a school just starting their digital signage journey?
Think about the audiences you want to deliver messaging to ? Are you looking to welcome visitors ? Increase staff communications ? Or inspire your young people to be the best versions of themselves ? From these answers schools can identify screen placement and start to build their digital signage plan.

Digital signage in education isn’t just about information, it’s about identity. TrilbyTV helps schools move beyond static messages to living, breathing communication that celebrates people and reinforces shared values. The result is measurable engagement, improved wellbeing and stronger relationships across staff, students, and parents. What we call a true Return on Relationship (ROR). As digital communication grows, TrilbyTV’s purpose-built simplicity ensures schools stay connected, creative and proud of their communities.

With every message shared, they’re not just switching screens on — they’re switching culture on.
